Troy & Sons

So for the duration of my spring break last week, I was fortunate enough to vacation in a gorgeous house in the woods of North Carolina. Throughout my visit, my girlfriend and I participated in numerous activities, most of which involved soaking in the hot tub. Even though we do know how to make the best out of a hot bowl of water, not all of our leisure time was as humdrum and uneventful as that. We wanted to break away from the routine schedule we made for ourselves so we did some internet research for activities in the nearby area. What we found was moonshine. So we took a tour of Troy & Sons distillery and learned how they make moonshine with this handsome equipment below. We also sampled the moonshine whiskey which led me to the purchase of their lovely Oak Reserve. I have always been a whiskey devotee but never encountered moonshine whiskey before this experience. Now before I lead you to believe that this is the same as moonshine let me explain the difference. Troy & Sons distils their moonshine at a very high proof that isn’t decent for consumption, for me anyways. The moonshine whiskey is essentially watered down to a standard 80 proof before it is bottled and sold. Anyway, the point of this little story is to advise you to stop by and visit Troy & Sons distillery whenever you are passing through North Carolina. If you are a whiskey drinker then it will not disappoint! Image
